Upperthong JI School Improvement Priorities 2025-26
As a parent or carer, we believe you should be aware of all the developments that are happening in school to improve the quality of education your child receives. We are working hard to provide your child with the best possible education and school experience. Below is a brief summary of our school improvement plan (a document produced by the school to identify ways in which the school will move forward). The objectives in our school improvement plan focus on the continual development of the school. We want to work in partnership with families to help further improve the school and outcomes for our children.

Current golden thread of linking development area
- Provision of staff CPD to strengthen: subject knowledge, confidence in working together, understanding of how to support own well being, trauma informed practice, ACEs & resilience and emotion coaching
- Promoting effective QA and accountability: in teaching, subject leadership, wider leadership and specific role in school
- Promoting consistency in all aspects: teaching, subject leadership, behaviour, relationships & professionalism
Live Issues
- Some year groups are small-concerns regarding falling roles in Holme Valley
- Keeping a balanced budget whilst being able to ensure quality of resources and provision
- With a growing number of children with EHCPs and presenting with specific SEND needs particularly SEMH having the quantity of staff to meet those needs is a concern
