Welcome to Year 1!
Leaving the Early Years curriculum and stepping into the Y1 national curriculum, children continue their learning journey with lots of hands-on and interactive activities. Children build their skills and continue to become independent learners.
What do we learn.....?
With the theme for the autumn term of ‘What a Wonderful World,’ we learn how to work as a team and support each other. We learn about the world we live in and some of the other animals we share this world with. We develop our storytelling skills using lots of different role play to inspire our ideas.
We then ‘Reach for the Stars’ in the spring term, travelling to not quite infinity and beyond but at least having a good look around our galaxy!
To finish the year, we are ‘Beside the Seaside,’ travelling back in time to explore how seaside holidays and activities have changed. We enjoy the summer with lots of outdoor learning opportunities and a visit away from school to give a different dimension to our learning!
